Small apartment? Small budget? This brooklyn abode should inspire you

If you aren't familiar with the blog "Good Bones Great Pieces," let me introduce you. They are a mother-daughter design team and the daughter's first apartment was just featured in Traditional Home! I'm just going to show you pics from Lauren's Brooklyn apartment.

The talented duo.

Lauren's favorite furnishing is this old desk turned vanity she found on the streets of Brooklyn. I've lived in Brooklyn 3 years and have to say that you find the best stuff on the streets of NYC. Especially in higher income neighborhoods like Brooklyn Heights, Park Slope, and Upper East/West side. Just make sure you check everything carefully for "pests."

This gorgeous dresser was passed down via Lauren's great-grandparents.

Isn't this place beautiful? Being that Lauren is recently out of college, and already has this lovely space to call home, I'm extremely jealous. Great work you guys!

Real NYC apartments and what they cost

I'm probably torturing myself by looking at NYC real estate sites, but I miss the city so much, and it just helps to tide me over until I manage to move back. Not that I'd ever begin to afford to live in one of these homes!

Nolita
This home is part of a major project at 211 Elizabeth Street. The penthouse closed for just under $7 million, a neighborhood record for price-per-square-foot.

Do these numbers surprise you? Pretty much what you expected? Thought prices would be higher? Thought prices would be lower?
